The Martin Training Approach
Martin Training specializes in training and collaborative consulting with a focus on two things:
- Vertical deployment of new concepts – from the CEO to the associate level. This method is used because training sometimes begins at the bottom and works it way up or more preferably, starts at the top and works its way down.
- Practical, core methods – Our methods are powerful and practical because we are interested in providing tools and techniques that real people can apply in the real world when they leave the training room.
In the training area we focus on:
- Offering programs and skill development that support a matrix management approach to running the business. From programs that help executives create and structure a matrix organization to workshops that develop project management, team facilitation, meeting management and other critical skills employees need to manage and work in a matrix organization.
In the collaborative consulting area we focus on:
- Using a structured workshop environment for doing information exchange so we help teams arrive at their own solutions. Two examples of this approach are the Executive Overview program and our FastForward program.
Our philosophical approach to training is:
- Have all our training programs support the new matrix technology of management.
- Teach methods that are based on the latest management technology, such as the new matrix, collaborative approaches to getting work done, the new accountability, etc.
- Create highly participative learning events so that the learning sticks and people use it after they leave the classroom.
- Tailor the training as needed to the organization that we’re working within.
- Direct training so it addresses all three sensory learning styles: visual, auditory and kinesthetic.
- Make the training fun wherever possible.
Our philosophical approach to consulting is:
- Act as facilitators and designers to create an environment and a process that utilizes the expertise of the people in the organization, who know their organization and their business better than we ever could, to create solutions that work for them.
- Work with the group to create action plans so they can implement the solutions they come up with.
- Conduct, as needed or requested, ongoing follow-up to help the members of the organization practice what they’ve learned.
- Transfer our knowledge to the organization as quickly as possible.
