The Professional Guide to Risk Assessment

by Paula K. Martin and Bruce Chadbourne

This easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide to assessing and managing risk will provide the professional project manager with the tools he or she needs to successfully beat back the chaos that rules many projects. The MTA CORE Risk method, which is consistent with PMI’s PMBOK® 2000 Guide standard, is a practical approach to identifying risks, creating a risk response plan, assessing contingencies required, monitoring risks, managing contingency, reporting status using best practice risk metrics, closing out risk and much more. In addition, the method presented is collaborative, so it teaches the project manager how to involve the team, key stakeholders, technical experts and nay-sayers in the risk assessment process, allowing them to offer ideas and analysis as well as creating understanding, ownership and buy-in to the results.
