As the next generation business model drives organizations to deal with more complex challenges of managing across organizational boundaries, the next generation project management model need to concurrently shift to a higher level of collaborative leadership. This paradigm shift will enable project managers to lead projects from a strategic perspective with a broader view of how to achieve improved results and significant benefits across the overall value chain.

Over the past two decades or so, we have been seeing the Project Management profession gain momentum, exposure and recognition initially in engineering and construction; but the influx of its application in recent years has been in areas that impact the IT industry.

This trend for adopting project management into business has shifted organizations today to take a project approach to managing many parts of their business. As a result, there is a growing awareness of the value of project management and the critical role it plays in successfully implementing corporate initiatives
